Sanderson Lam is the early leader in the race for a place on the World Snooker Tour (WST) after reaching the final day of the first two events of the WPBSA Q Tour Europe series.
As in previous seasons, the top ranked player following the conclusion of the seventh and final event will earn an automatic two-year WST place for the 2027/28 and 2028/29 campaigns, with a minimum of 16 further players qualifying for the season-ending Global Play-Offs to contest three further tour cards.
Winners of each Q Tour Europe event are guaranteed at least a spot in the Global Play-Offs meaning that Lam and Aaron Busuttil have already secured their places.
Lam Leads The Way
Sanderson Lam is in poll position following a run of 10 consecutive victories at the start of the 2026/27 Q Tour Europe season that included winning the event one title in Leeds, England.
The 32-year-old, who was relegated from the WST at the end of last season, is the early leader having followed up his success at the Northern Snooker Centre with a quarter-final finish in Sofia, Bulgaria last month.
Leading the chasing pack is Aaron Busuttil, who became the first ever player from Malta to win a Q Tour title by defeating Edward Jones 4-0 in the final of event two.
Teenager Jones, who reached the final in Sofia having never previously gone beyond the last 64 of a Q Tour event, sits third while the rest of the top five is made up by former professionals Mark Joyce and Farakh Ajaib.
The Play-Off Race
Players from nine different nations currently make up the guaranteed play-off positions with Malta’s Aaron Busuttil climbing to second place following his title win in Sofia.
Former professionals Mark Joyce, Farakh Ajaib and Dean Young are among those currently occupying the top 17 positions after strong starts to the campaign.
Event two runner-up Edward Jones, aged 17, is the youngest player currently in the play-off places while Poland’s Sebastian Milewski and Wales’ Riley Powell join him as the trio of teenagers among the early chasing pack.
Poland’s Tomasz Skalski currently sits in 17th place but it remains all to play for with five events remaining across Germany, Austria, England and Belgium.
Q Tour Europe event three takes place in Oberhausen, Germany on 22-25 October. Enter now via WPBSA SnookerScores.
