Huang Secures Immediate Tour Return

China’s Huang Jiahao defeated compatriot Liang Xiaolong 4-2 in the final round of Asia Oceania Q School Event Two in Bangkok, to bounce back from tour relegation last month.

Huang first earned professional status back in 2024, thanks to his performances on the CBSA Tour. His best run on the World Snooker Tour saw him make the quarter-finals of the Shoot Out later that year. However, the 30-year-old didn’t do enough to break into the top 64 and was relegated at the conclusion of last season.

Huang stormed to a 3-0 lead this afternoon, but breaks of 77, 67 and 62 saw Liang mount a spirited fightback and close the gap to 3-2. In the end it was Huang who held his nerve and made 93 to get over the line as a 4-2 victor, earning a fresh two-year tour card.

Huang said: “This means a lot to me. I can now concentrate on playing better in the upcoming season. I would like to thank all the snooker fans in China for their support through social media, which helps keep me motivated. I now want to establish myself in the top 64 of the world rankings.”

Liu Yang prevailed to claim the final tour card of the event with a 4-2 victory over Chen Ruifu.

Victory for 22-year-old Liu means he turns professional for the first time. The Chinese cueman crafted breaks of 88 and 65 on his way to victory this afternoon.

Liu and Huang join compatriot Deng Haohui and Thailand’s Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon, who came out on top in event one.
